3rd Mindanao Bloggers Summit after event post

October 27, 2009

Just attended and hosted the 3rd Mindanao Bloggers Summit in Cagayan de Oro City last Saturday, October 24, 2009.

The event was filled with about 80 bloggers most of which from the host city. I was delighted to know that there were participants coming from the different parts of Mindanao as well, such as Ozamis, Davao, General Santos, Iligan, Zamboanga and even from Manila. That considering that the event was the first MBS to ask for a registration fee.

I was able to meet the whole CDOBloggers-organizers the night before the event to talk about the program. We had dinner at Loretos along with the Philippine Blog awards main man, Juned Sunido. I love their chicken! Naka dalawang balik ako!

After a while, Juned and I had to leave to head to another place. Panagatan in Opol. It was a long ride to Panagatan but was worth it. I met my friends from Manila Jay and Aileen – who was one of the speakers, and with them was Honey Caragos. A long time friend of the couple.

The next day, I had to leave Sir George pension house by 7:00 AM to take a look at the venue at Perlmont Hotel and see if there were any last minute changes with the program. The US Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission to the Philippines, Lesslie Basset, also arrived 30 minutes before her scheduled talk. We had to wait for the Mayor of CDO, Mayor Tinnex Jaraula before starting the program. The event started a little past 9:00 AM.

Other speakers also arrived early. Atty. Adel Tamano was in the lobby. Rep. Ompong Plaza was being interviewed by Alvin. The main speakers for the event – Aileen Apolo, Janette Torral and Lyle Santos – gave their talks during the afternoon session.

Part of the program was listening to updates from blogging hotspots of Mindanao. Jaime Haw represented Davao City. Avel “Bariles” Manansala for General Santos City. Ryann Elumba for Zamboanga, and Edward “magman” Segundo for Cagayan de Oro City.

Was happy to gain new friends in CDO!!! And finally met Orman, Avel’s big brother. 😀

Muntik na din ako mamatay sa CDO… mamatay sa kaka-tawa! Right Honey? 😛  hahahaha!

My CDO adventures will be posted on my travel blog what I see is What I blog <>. I’ll also write posts about the great food in CDO on my food blog Simut Sarap <>.
