Dive.. Davao

August 7, 2008

This is the second part of my post about scuba diving in Davao… Dive dive dive! Wahahahha.. not yet.. let me first tell you the things that happened before we went under water.

The dive spot was Coral Garden at Talikud Island.

A quick orientation will be done. You’ll be introduced to the gears and those that you need to do so that after you dip your whole body under water, you’ll still come up breathing and alive!

Pay attention to the one speaking in front – if you still want to live! hahaha. Ask questions or clarifications if you didn’t get it. Specially the hand signals, how to properly breathe under water, and how to remove water from your googles under water. The basics will still be repeated once you get in the water with your suit and gear.

Your dive masters will gear up.

That means its also time for you ti suit up!

Then slowly go into the water…

After a quick briefing and refresher of the Do’s and Don’ts, its time for you to take the plunge!

You should “normalize” whenever you feel that your ears are being clogged with water. You could also get rid of water coming in to your googles everytime you want to. You can bite your breathing aparatus if you feel that its too loose for you.

Your dive master will tell you if its time to take pictures. Do not breathe or exhale because the bubbles will cover your face. Do not smile.. water will enter your mouth!

Hope you find NEMO there! I found him but didn’t get the chance to hold him in my hands like the others did!

While waiting for your turn or after diving, you can:

1. Go Snorkling

2. Swim around

3. Ride the canoe

4. Eat! Lunch will be served buffet style.

5. just pose at the side of the boat and just wait until everyone is done! hehhehe

I truly suggest you try this one out… All it takes is guts and presence of mind. Do not panic when under water. Practice normal breathing though your mouth and obey what your dive master tells you!

Hi! I’ve actually tried diving in Anilao once but since I am living in Davao at the moment, can I ask if you have info if Wind and Wave offers a program for PADI certification? Or if not, any recommendations what Dive school in Davao offers the best program for beginners to get PADI certified? I want to get PADI certified sana before 2010. I tried googling their website but it’s suspended waaa! Thank you! I will super appreciate any response!
