Philippine Standard Time

July 30, 2008

We had a slight problem here in our company. Our clocks showed different time.

To solve that, we had to synchronize….

The next small problem was finding the right time.. which time should we use as reference. Which site shows the Philippine standard time or the official time here in the Philippines? The first site that i checked was none other than PAGASA-DOST. And here’s what i got:

Ouch!.. our time is undefined! NaN NaN NaN whahahahaha. Nakakahiya!

So what i did is i called up PAGASA (02-929.1237) and asked for the correct and official time.

I also googled around for websites showing the Philippine time and found wwp.greenwichmeantime.com to be a good source. Same time with PAGASA (is that good or bad? hahaha)

You can also use your computer time. You just have to make sure that it is pointed to the correct servers. To do that follow these simple steps (for windows XP users):

  1. Double click the clock on your task bar (the one on the bottom right of your computer screens).
  2. A dialog box will appear. There are three tabs. Choose the INTERNET TIME tab.
  3. Make usre that the option “Automatically synchronize with an internet time server” is clicked. Then choose time.windows.com on the drop down menu. This is also the correct time as checked with PAGASA.
  4. CLick UPDATE NOW. and wait for it to finish.

There you go.. now you have the correct time. =>

Some more infos you might want to know:

  • Philippines Standard Time is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+8)
  • Philippines does not operate Daylight-Saving Time
