Brian Gorrell vs DJ Montano et al – my opinion

April 12, 2008

I have been quiet about this issue due to legal implications. But now that DJ Montano has emerged and talked about his role in this “tele serye”, i think i can now give out my opinion.

For those who don’t know yet (where have you been?), Brian Gorrell is an Australian who put up a blog – The Talented Mr. Montano – with the objective of recovering $70,000 Australian dollars (i thought it was USD) from Delfin Justiniano “DJ” Montano, whom Brian is saying “stole his money”.

If you wana know where the story started, check here.

I don’t know DJ Montano, and i don’t know majority of the “cast” of this “tele-serye”, i don’t even read their columns. They became known by the “masa” because of this issue. Unfortunately, it was a not a good way to be known.

There were a lot of allegations that were thrown at the casts, from wearing and using fake stuff to using people (users?), and even the use of illegal drugs.

Is it true? I don’t know, only the the ones involved and our courts can prove that.

But, I believe Brian… 95% of whatever he’s saying (or has written in his blog). But only up to DJ Montano. with regards to the other casts, that’s a different story. I hope other people who doesn’t have direct involvement with Brian and DJ be spared. But if they’re really involved, in one way or another, then go ahead.

Why do i believe Brian? Because:

  1. He was effective in making me believe that what he’s saying is true and factual (he’s believable, he seems to be an honest person and he laid all his cards on the table);
  2. He has documents to prove it (which he posted in his blog).
  3. He was the only one speaking and the silence of the accused party/ies meant (for me) that they were hiding something and devising a plan on how to counter brian;
  4. We pinoys tend to side with who we think is the underdog, the helpless one.

Now here comes DJ, more than a month after Brian made his first post. 2 weeks after broadsheets published Brian’s story, several days after TV networks aired the issue.

Why only know? Well, according to a news article:

he was forced to come out and fight since Gorrell had been dragging the names of family members and close friends. – Philippine Star

But as i’ve mentioned above, Brian’s been doing that for more than a month now… Hello!

Ok so why only talk about this now? Well, as i’ve said in my opening “speech”, i stayed out of the issue due to legal implications. I might get involved in a private issue. But after Dj went out on National TV and had his interview posted on one of the broadsheets, I think it has now become a public issue (or maybe the term NATIONAL issue is a better term).

One thing i hope Brian’s supporters would do is to stick to the issue. I hope they do not involve people other than who Brian has already named. And i also hope, we don’t shift our hate or anger on those who say negative stuff about Brian or his goal. Instead, think of ways on how to be able to convince them to support Brian. Turn haters to supporters.

Also, maybe all we need to do is Pray. And everything will be over.

    After seeing your post in my feed reader, I decided to read the entire The Talented Mr. Montano series.

    I agree with you; I believe Brian Gorrell is telling the truth. It may be on his writing style; but it’s just undeniably persuasive.

    If ever he was really telling the truth; then DJ Montano is really crap social-climbing devil!

    Enough said.

    after reading the stories and watching the interview of DJ, I can conclude that Brian was a victim. He is telling the truth wala namang ibang wedeng maging reason si Brian who has almost everything para paabutin pa sa ganitong situation kung wala talaga syang basis. Ingat na lang sa mga opportunistang sosyalero at mga gold digger. Thax.
