NTC raids shops in Davao Malls

The National Telecommunications Commission raided the shops inside some malls here in Davao.


Their objective: Seize the mobile phones that doesn’t have NTC stickers.

According to Sun Star, Around 800 phones were seized from the shops inside the following malls:

  • 705 cellphone units from stores in Lachmi Mall,
  • 45 units from shops inside Gaisano Mall of Davao,
  • 100 from those in Victoria Plaza,
  • 20 units in DCLA complex along R. Magsaysay Avenue.

The NTC released a Memorandum Circular (MC 08-08-2004A) giving additional Rules and Regulations on the Purchase, Sale, Lease and/or Retail of Mobile Phones.

3.1 No person shall engage in the business of a Mobile Phone Dealer (MPD), Mobile Phone Supplier/Distributor (MPSD), and Mobile Phone Retailer/Reseller (MPRR) without first securing the necessary accreditation/permit/registration certificate from the Commission.

3.2 No MPD and MPRR shall keep on stock mobile phones which are illegally acquired, and/or without NTC type-approval/type acceptance labels/stickers on the mobile phones.

3.3 MPD and MPRR shall register with the Commissi on all their available mobile phone units in their stock and/or possession by submitting the list of its International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) code on a monthly basis. Likewise, they shall also submit a list of all available subscriber identification module (SIM) numbers in their stock and/or possession.

    sir gsto ko lng po sana mag reklamo sa services ng smart communication!
    nag bayad na ako ng bill namin the singil pa sila ng singil nakaka dag dag hustle kasi kailangan pa pumunta sa office nila paraq dun mag reklamo tapos pag dating dun napaka bagal pa ng services nila sana po mabigyan natin to ng action tnx
