Billboard collapses in Davao

November 17, 2007

A giant billboard at the Quimpo boulevard overpass collapsed.

Brader Jun was on the spot and was able to take this picture:

I thought this only happens in Metro Manila. =>

Also, what happened to the campaign of DPWH regarding this giant billboards? I read from sunstar.com that back in 2006:

The huge billboard in the junction of Sandawa and Quimpo Boulevard was dismantled by the DPWH along with the Ad and Promo Management (APM), the billboard owner.

Brader Jun also notes that no one got hurt. Does this mean this won’t have any attention yet? Coz… you know pinoys.. unless someone gets hurt or dies, that’s the time that you’ll see them “in action”.

Here are some more billboards along the Bangkerohan bridge (Pic by davaoeagle via skyscrapercity.com).

Take a look at the billboards which may soon take your life.

Andrew, Ria and I were at the spot just after the billboard collapsed!

The billboards in Davao were put back after it was decided that, since we’re not in the typhoon zone, it was safe to have them alongside our major thoroughfares and in populated areas.

This is the 2nd time a billboard collapsed. The first time was near the old ABS-CBN Matina. It was a house in GSIS Subd. Good thing, the house was sturdy, only the roof and the tree got the damage. No one was hurt. This time, another billboard collapsed, no one was hurt. I bet no one’s taking the action unless someone gets hurt.
