One of my fave pinoy kakanin during December… Puto Bumbong

Puto Bumbong is a Pinoy delicacy which only when Simbang Gabi starts…
So what is it?

Hmmmm… i can’t find a good meaning or description… but i’m sure knowing the ingredients will be able to give you an idea of what it is…
Ingredients:
1 Kilogram malagkit (glutinous) rice, mixed with
125 grams ordinary rice
1 pc mature coconut, shredded
butter or margarine
violet food coloring
banana leaves
water
salt
sugar
Source and how to cook Puto Bumbong here.
It goes side by side with Hot Choco! You can normally find vendors selling Puto Bumbong outside churches…
The other pinoy kakanin thats a big hit during these times is the Bibingka! Depending on who’s cooking and how it is cooked.. the bibingka is one of the best kakanin in the Philippines!
Merry Christmas!

Talk about Kakaninn bibingka, puto bumbong etc..etc.. I found this guy who makes all these Kakanin in LA. He only caters and makes evrything fresh. He grinds his own galapong and even grows his own bamaboo for puto bumbong. Man his stuff are good. if you need to see a picture of his bilao with kakanin, Ican send it. I think his logo is Kakanin sa bahay Kubo. I made some taste test and got some kakanin from Seafood City and man it was not that great compared to what he made. Plus his price is very reasonable. he just works on small clients and does not want to mass produce. he said it can get sloppy. he preffers the true blue Pinoy style of preparing kakanin.
