Baywalk in Davao

If you haven’t heard yet, there’s a Baywalk in Davao… and it is guarded by this mighty bold man…

That’s the gigantic statue of King David with no clothes on. =p

This area has been called by a lot of names already..

  • David
  • David’s Edge
  • Quensland Park
  • Sea Wall

But i think Baywalk is a better term!

Aside from this towering structure, you’ll also see a little mermaid!

It has been relocated at least 3 times. Well, she’s a mermaid.. she can swim!

Oh wait! Who’s that lady in front of David? Is it the little mermaid?

Its Ms. Google  Philippines – Aileen Apolo .

Baywalk in Davao has a Fish Pond..

And a Fish Pen..

Kids love to swim at the bay..

At the other  Side, you’ll see the Davao gulf . They’re also building a public shade…

NIce huh? Unfortunately, this area has its share of controversies. You see, the area developed by the owners of Queensland Lodge is owned by the Government. Queensland is now asking the Government to co-manage the area.

I don’t see anything wrong here. Coz before this area was developed, it is known as a place where you go for “short-time” fun. Queensland is a motorist hotel (ummm lodge..) and when you go to this place, only one thing comes into mind.

But now, now that the area has been beautified… the government is now claiming ownership of the place. Coz it’s now turning to be one of Davao’s tourist spots.

I think a compromise can be attained here. And i think it will be better managed by a private company rather than the Government.. you know what i mean here.
