Davao Tuna
The Tuna Capital of the Philippines…. If I remember my algebra right, is General Santos City – GenSan… where our blogger friend Avel a.k.a Bariles hails.
But here in Davao City, tuna is abundant… And a whole tuna is usually present during special occasions and events.
There are a lot of ways to enjoy the tasty Tuna!
The favorite of most of whom i know here in Davao is the Kinilaw na Tuna. That’s raw tuna soaked in vinegar with spices. Its not my favorite but i do eat it occasionally.
Tuna is also served as Sashimi. That’s again, raw tuna (usually with crushed ice to kill the germs and bacteria) with kalamansi, soy sauce and wasabe.
One variation is the Sinuglaw – Sinugba+Kinilaw. Its Kinilaw na tuna with grilled pork. Whenever this is served, I only eat the pork. =p
Another favorite dish for the tuna is the grilled tuna belly or grilled panga (jaw). YUM YUM!
A lot of restaurants here in Davao City offer tuna dishes. So when you visit Davao, be sure to bite a tuna!
Whenever i’m home in cdo, i always have tuna cooked in a variety of ways. There’s a local outlet in cdo that sells fresh tuna from gensan & priced reasonably. Btw, i enjoyed browsing thru your blog. Great job ! = )
