This is not your usual coffee.. and this is not a Cafe here in Davao or in the Philippines.
Coffee prince, the real title is The first shop of Coffee Prince, is a korean drama made for TV. We call it here “koreanovela”. Its about a rich guy falling in love with another guy which is actually a woman.
I don’t watch all koreanovelas.. The first i watched was Princess hours, then this one. I think you’ll get hooked with it. because
It stars my favorite koreanovela actress Yoon Eun Hye. If you were able to watch the famous Princess Hours i’m sure you know her. She’s sooooooooooooo pretty!!! Her pics are all over the internet! google it.
Oh, aside from her being that pretty, she’s also good in her craft.
Going back to Coffee Prince, Its something everyone can relate to. I don’t mean the same sex relationship ok? Its about falling in love. A topic which every pinoy would have a hard time to resist. =p
Gong Yoo, played by Choi Han Kyul, is the cocky son of a rich family who runs a food corporation. He doesn’t believe in love and certainly doesn’t want to get married despite his family’s requests. On the other hand, Go Eun Chan, played by Yoon Eun Hye, is a 24-year old tomboyish female who gets mistaken as a guy quite often. She takes up every job possible - waitress, food deliverer, etc - and has the responsibility of taking care of her mother and younger sister. Eun Chan accidentally meets Gong Yoo twice, once on a delivery and once during a robbery. During the robbery, Eun Chan’s delivery motorcycle ends up being damaged. Gong Yoo, not knowing that Eun Chan is actually a girl, decides to hire Eun Chan as a false “lover” so that he can escape the blind dates arranged by his grandmother. Meanwhile, Gong Yoo’s cousin, Choi Han Seong, is an established music producer and his ex-girlfriend Han Yoo Joo, who Gong Yoo secretly loved for nine years, is a famous artist who studied in New York. The two were lovers for about 8 years but their relationship ended when Yoo Joo broke up with Han Seong. Two years after they separated their paths cross again when Yoo Joo returns to Seoul.
After getting an ultimatum from his grandmother, Gong Yoo takes over a run-down old coffee shop, later renamed Coffee Prince, to prove his ability, both to his grandmother and Yoo Joo. In order to attract female customers, he only hires good looking male employees. In a struggle with money, Eun Chan, whom Gong Yoo has already mistaken as a boy, hides her gender identity to get a job at Coffee Prince. Soon feelings start to spark between Eun Chan and Gong Yoo. Because he’s unaware that Eun Chan is a girl, Gong Yoo starts to question his sexuality. -Source: wikipedia
Its really nice. Specially the “kilig’ scenes which i can relate to. hahahha
Just finished watching it a while ago.
Actually i only got to know about it after my friends watched it when they came over our house in Manila. But i hated the dubbing part. GMA 7 still sucks in dubbing. So what i did was.. i bought a DVD in Baguio during my vacation.. Then i found out that my brother bought one already. The one i bought was in tagalog, recorded from GMA7. I forgot my brother’s CD when i went back here in Davao so i tried surfing the internet.
True enough, i found lots and lots of sites which hosts Coffee prince with English subtitles. I find it better to read the subtitles than to listen to the dubbed version of GMA7.
For couples out there, you’ll find this verrrrrrry nice. => Actually i found some nice stuff to do/give for my fiancee.
If you wanna watch it online, go here.
WARNING: Its really addictive!
